With the theme “Emerging Philippine IR/HR Initiatives in a Recovering ASEAN”, the conference aims to equip the participants with knowledge and skills on IR/HRM as well as to provide a forum for sharing experiences, lessons learned and good policies and practices.
The resource speakers include paper writers and researchers from the academe, top corporations and institutions in the country who are recognized experts and practitioners in the various facets of IR and HRM. The presentations will revolve on the following tracks: Human Resource Management, Workplace Partnership; Work, Family and Community; and Labor Laws and Governance. A call for papers has been released for this purpose. This would be an excellent opportunity for your supervisors and managers to learn, analyze and possibly adopt new concepts and practices that may suit your organization’s needs and goals.
Registration fees are P5,000.00 for non-PIRS members and P4,500.00 for PIRS members for local participants and $150.00 for international participants (non-IIRA members) and $125.00 for IIRA members. Conference Theme:
The Philippine Industrial Relations Society (PIRS) invites you to submit papers that illustrate relevant, exemplary and innovative initiatives and/ or influence on industrial relations and/or human resources (IR/HR) practices.
THEME TRACKS
I. Managing Work and Organization (IR/HR Perspective)
II. Voice and Representation (Workplace Partnership)
III. Work, Family and Community (Civil Society Participation, Cooperatives, Informal Sector, Gender, Occupational Safety and Health, CSR, Decent Work and Balanced Work Life)
IV. Labor Laws and Governance (Institutions, Processes and Outcomes)
Objectives of the Conference:
Objective 1: Share achievements, challenges, opportunities from actual IR/HR work and initiatives at the level of policy, practice, research and education.
Objective 2: Discuss different emerging IR/HR ideas and models indicative of initiatives in the context of a recovering ASEAN.
Objective 3: Develop a viable and workable plan to document, enhance and advance the relevant thrusts within the dimensions of the four theme-tracks.
INITIATIVES refer to budding ideas, practices-on-trial, newly tested, newly disseminated and yet to be developed into policy level, academic research, work procedure and regulations. These ‘initiatives’ cut-across the four dimensions of the afore-cited tracks.
Guidelines for Submission of Paper Abstracts:
1. One presenter may submit only one abstract for consideration
2. Only one author can be listed as the presenter. Co-authors are welcome to attend the session but cannot pose as the presenter
3. All abstracts must be in English
4. All abstracts must be limited to 450 words, use Tahoma 12 font. Handwritten abstracts will not be accepted. The title and the designated presenter are not included in the word count. Headings within the abstract are included in the word count. Any abstract longer than 450 words will be returned.
5. Acronyms and abbreviations should be spelled out at first use.
6. All abstracts must be submitted electronically. The Conference Secretariat must receive your abstract by no later than
Guidelines for Abstract Contents:
Abstract Title: How does your presentation (study, program, activity) demonstrate relevance to changing and emerging IR/HR initiatives in a recovering ASEAN?
Presenter and co-authors: Who was/were involved in the study, program, activity? Describe nature of involvements/s.
Learning Objectives: What will participants learn as a result of attending this presentation?
Background: What was the purpose of your study, program, activity? What were the key objectives? When and where did it take place? How long did it last? How many people were involved in the study, program, activity? Mention approximate costings.
Design/Methods: How was the study, program, activity conducted? How were the data/information gathered and analyzed (cite specific methods used).
Results/Outcome or Current Efforts and Implications: What are the results or outcomes of your study, program, activity? How far have been the new ideas, practices been used and describe extent of relevance and impact. What have been additional documented benefits, e.g., human resource management approaches, working conditions, community cohesion, local enterprise development, greater incomes and livelihood opportunities?
